Confronting Barriers to Business
The Southern Shrimp Alliance works on a variety of other national issues in an effort improve the environment in which the U.S. shrimp industry conducts its business. Throughout 2009, the SSA represented the business needs of commercial fishermen and businesses before elected officials and worked on developing new markets and demand for U.S. shrimp products. In addition, the organization brought attention to other needs of the U.S. shrimp community, such as access to immigrant labor and affordable healthcare.
