Free Workshops Inform Fishermen

You must be informed to advocate. That’s the premise behind the Marine Resource Education Program, which prepares fishermen to speak up about regulatory issues impacting the shrimp industry. The workshops are free and include the cost of your travel to and from the workshops, your hotel room, and food for the duration of the program. The workshop is “by fishermen, for fishermen,” meaning fishermen moderate sessions on fisheries science and management to help scientists and regulators explain complex concepts and issues in an approachable way, keeping the discussion real.

The Southern Shrimp Alliance encourages you to explore the program. The shrimp industry benefits from knowledgeable members who are ready to discuss issues that affect it.

The next Southeast Fisheries Science & Management Workshop in St. Petersburg, FL has been postponed due to Hurricane Milton, but you can apply to participate in future meetings and receive updates here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfxwT2jHA5XRjqGQlJwemjFvJmJrnsYbPPXertOGlKZ4zbwNA/viewform
