NOTICE TO FISHING VESSELS – SCHEDULE UPDATE – Telecommunication Cable – FIRMINA – Installation in Myrtle Beach, SC

Dear Fishing Vessels and Mariners – U.S. East Coast,
THIS IS A PROGRESS UPDATE TO THE PREVIOUS EMAIL SENT ON DEC 22, 2022.
The cable ship CS Durable is making good progress on the installation and burial of the FIRMINA Telecom Cable. The cable has been installed and buried from a point approx. 15 nautical miles from Myrtle Beach, SC out approx. 77 nautical miles. This phase of the project is beyond 3 nautical miles from shore in Federal Waters only. [See attached chart and route position list of the route.]
This phase will end 240 nautical miles from shore at N31 02.4875, W075 22.1720 and is scheduled to be completed around February 20, 2023 after weather delays. The first 15 nautical miles of cable from shore will be installed by another vessel in a separate marine operation in May 2023. We will update you when those details are available.
Please take notice of the coordinate locations below where the cable is temporarily not buried:
Please avoid these sections until they are buried.
We kindly request that ships and fishing vessels continue to keep a distance of at least 1 nm from the cable installation vessel to ensure safe operations. We also kindly request that any set or drift gear, such as longlines, gillnets, and pots/traps be moved off the route by a distance of 1/2 nm on either side at the locations and during these periods noted above in order to avoid gear entanglement.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information and regarding the updated schedule so you can plan your gear moves. Please forward this message to anyone who may be impacted. We greatly appreciate your assistance and cooperation during these operations.
The cable installation is in Federal Waters and is authorized by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Permit Number [SAC-2021-01124]. Notice-To-Mariners will be issued by the US Coast Guard.
