The Southern Shrimp Alliance’s engages in all federal actions and with the Regional Fishery Management Councils to evaluate and establish Habitat Areas of Particular Concern (HACPs) with the objectives to ensure that such protections are science-based and that the U.S. shrimp fisheries do not cause damage to sensitive coral habitats and their associated ecosystems. The protection of sensitive marine habitats and ecosystems is a core element of the Southern Shrimp Alliance’s commitment to sustainability.
