The U.S. warmwater shrimp fleet has the nation’s lowest fatality rate among commercial fishing fleets. Rather than dictate expensive, unnecessary mandates, the Southern Shrimp Alliance supports regulatory approaches that promotes improvements in vessel safety.

The organization also facilitates the participation of shrimpers in safety courses and training. Emergencies at sea can be avoided, prepared for, and handled better through a knowledgeable crew.
