Smalltooth Sawfish Management

Smalltooth Sawfish Management

U.S. shrimp fishery interactions are extremely rare and difficult to monitor, but Federal regulations under the Endangered species Act now limit the shrimp industry’s capture of smalltooth sawfish to 1,806 over five years to protect the endangered species. The Southern Shrimp Alliance is committed to working with NOAA and the Regional Fishery Management Councils to track such encounters and inform any appropriate regulatory actions.
